So here I sit, 3rd night, really attempting to find my limits. I realized that I needed to stop being a dumbass and just try. I know that sounds a touch cliche, but it comes down to just wanting it more and working harder to provide goals that others (those who instruct) set for you. I am taking my first Art Center at Night class called Intro to Product and Transportation, and its nothing short of amazing. I have needed an experience like this since last August. A sort of removal and replacement of yourself, you know?
If at all I dont make sense I will try to clarify as best I can while I write so don't stop reading just yet.
Outside of my AC at night class, you should know that I have opted to retake my Adv. Rendering and Adv. Product classes to set myself back straight and do right like I had intended in the first place. With these classes its sort of a 'conquer all' attitude that I am having to do and placing my social life on the back burner until further notice. If I dont, I will fail. Not only myself but the bigger picture, I feel. I have said before that working hard toward a goal is something that you should do no matter what, and it feels solid to be practicing what I preach, you know?
I do have to say, also, that to the 5 readers I feel that I may have at one moment or another....thank you. Ranting and bitching can be hard to read especially if you can fully understand it at times but I really want to do good and work hard and having to edit or censor myself regarding struggles with work or progress is not something I want to do. This isnt easy and you should know that, no less I think it should only make you realize goals are not easy, but they can be made less painful if you strategize, and work to place yourself in the right place at the right time.
This next week is the official first full week of PCC classes too with the rendering and product advanced design, Im hoping to find that perfect balance.
Current Project-Im creating for my ACN class a backpack like product that can cook or refrigerate your travel foods that is part of the new Land Rover Product line I am developing.
posts on that coming soon.
Follow me on my journey that started with just a dream. From childhood, I have wanted to be a car designer. Transplanted from Tennessee, I feel like I am in a whole different world. Although completed, you can read through past posts to see what it was like in the post-2008 market crash of being in survival mode to pursue a career that interested me. Follow along to see my story of surviving Art Center College of Design.

Ode.
Since I have been back in town my MINI has been having a tough time apparently. Since I was gone a month I guess he must have thought I was leaving forever....
Needless to say he is sitting at the MINI dealer trying to get fixed because last Saturday-I was driving home from class when the check engine light came on-then the DSC (dynamic stability control) and then when I started to re-arrange myself to go to the dealership to drop him off immediately, the car started to putz and sound like it was having a coughing fit/ or it just wasnt firing on all cylinders....
So I have left Charlie in the care of the people that know him best. Hoping for the best.
Heres a few pictures of my life with this AMAZING car so far :D

I had an Idea-
Has anyone noticed the apocalyptic weather lately? If it isnt flooding, snowing, or laying sheets of ice everywhere (yesIknowitswinter), dead animals are suddenly making the news for their mass deaths...
So either news has been trickling in or people are really taking notice, (just like the oil spill will we be getting a dead animal camera, one ponted at the sky and one at a cow field playing 24/7?) OR something big could be happening. In leu of that though I have been enjoying the threat of snow in Tennessee on my winter break this year and I thought I could update on how things have been going!
In grand fashion I returned to Honda to help with inventory this season and change the way this business was run again! It was amazing too. I made some new friends and continued to work as hard as i could for the company. I was so very happy to be back representing the company that has allowed me to return and make some of this money so I can pay for some of this school!
After the new years spent in Muncie, In. I have just been working and helping around the house. I also was able to play in all of the 2011 Honda models (along with some trade in cars) but I drove ALL the new models from the CR-Z to the new Touring Odyssey!
The new Odyssey is AMAZING.
Classes CLASSES CLASSSSSSSSES!!
OH I am taking Art Center at Night classes this spring!!!!
Intro to Product and Transportation design
I am also retaking my blundered fall classes, adv. product and adv. rendering and I PROMISE to do better.
I let myself down in the fall and I have decided to do what it is I do, differently. Clearly my methods were not working in my favor so I have made it a point to reset myself. My working habits will change and if I have to, I will ask for help when I need it too.
I fly back this friday to LA. Let it begin! (only after tonights snow here, thanks)

Long Term Fall 2010 Wrap-up
Today was the final day of the final final finally.
The course of this semester has thoroughly been a hellacious roller coaster at times but I am happy to say I came out on the other end somewhat less tattered and damaged than I had originally expected.
To catch you up quickly heres the summary of August-November.
In late August (almost too late) I came back to California after a surprisingly busy but fun summer. The semester started with me enrolled in Advanced Rendering, Advanced Product, Lettering Fundamentals, and Intro to Digital Tools. They all started off fairly well but for some reason with a mix of home life and lack thereof, and going from the hustle-and-bustle of Tennessee to essentially solitary confinement here in California, I just think it was a poor re-introduction to the rhythm of things.
It wasnt too long after our first few projects that I realized that I was not happy. Not in the "oh I have homework, sorry I cant go out" kind of way but more so in the "I have 4 projects due next week and I have no idea where to even start." My self deprecating thoughts and general lack of human interaction outside of school (See: no one home when I am) ended up getting the best of me and affecting my work very negatively. Sketching seemed so foreign to me and I felt like I was suddenly drowning out past the deep end.
Strangely enough around the time of my dark days I realized the one thing that had helped me last fall. That was to go home.
Two weeks before Thanksgiving I made the decision to go home and try to clear my head. It worked, and after some careful planning and deep thoughts, I decided that the best thing for me to do was to remove two classes that had been the main cause of my blunders. Advanced Rendering and Adv. Product.
Now without going too far off on a tangent about why I will say that I am enrolling for those classes in the spring and I do plan on taking them and passing with flying colors too. Along with my lack of preparedness for the classes I think I was genuinely spoiled by my spring semesters Product and Rendering instructor because, well, he was insanely amazing. So to see what I was given this fall was a letdown. I know we cant all have amazing teachers all the time but I just like the more involved instructors with a clear sense and flow to their lesson plans.
So, I shall be returning for a good round two for Spring and I am genuinely looking forward to it. Along with that, I am officially enrolled in Art Center at Night for the spring term too. Intro to Product and Transportation Design. BALLS.
So after I consolidated my classes, I focused really good on finishing on a high note with those classes. Boy did I ever! I know for a fact that I finished today with an "A" in my Digital tools class and as far as my Lettering class, since it was taught by an Art Center graduate who specializes in Typefaces, I will be extatic if I am able to get an "A" but knowing his grading style he does not give many A's. Keeping my fingers crossed. I was able to get a good head start on my final that was due today and my father had actually called me last week to see how my workload and things were coming and I told him that I had a week to complete everything but I was about 80% done anyway. So he asked if I wanted to go with him on a double-layover to Milan, Italy. WOAH. Milan, huh?!
Of course I went.
I landed on tuesday night after flying back to LA allllll day and I had opportunities on the flight to complete the project and while I was back home I polished everything off, then Wednesday night at like 1:45am I had to run up to FedEx Office to have my prints made, to my despair they were slammed with other projects (not to mention the gentleman that greeted me was a complete jerk about me wanting to have 6 prints made, it takes 5 minutes!!) So I drove to Glendale where there was another location, still kind of peeved from the lack of the Pasadena's store's professionalism (regardless if it was 2am or not) the guy in Glendale helped me and THEN some. He went out of his way to make sure everything looked good. Really awesome guy. I think his name was Raul. Visit him and give him your business. Really.
Critique went well today and I have been home cat-napping for the first half and packing since about midnight. I leave here at 5am my time to the airport and then flying home!
Ill update once I am there.
Enjoy some pics of my progress!
